Church at Castel di Irie

I have painted the outside of the church at Castel di Irie a few times, but yesterday was the first time I have ever been inside. Here are some pics of things I thought were interesting.

These sculptures seem a little crude, but they are more interesting for their lack of realism.

Just another little winged face, eyes shut.

Possibly the most unusual thing I have seen in a church. I assume it gets carried around at some religious ceremony. The only thing I really question are the whips at either end. If they are for self flagellation then, once again, count me out.

Alter. I have painted this part of the building and the windows, but inside was a little disappointing.
