Swedish Fika

Fika in Halmsted

Scandinavians are very energetic and love to show off their countries. We saw so many amazing things in Sweden that this will be a short recap. Our friends were tireless in the efforts to show us everything with in 200 km of Halmstad. Possibly they were hoping we would have no reason to return, but oh we do!

Number one reason is: Swedish Fika. Here is a link in case you would like to know more.

Generally pastries and coffee are involved. The coffee in Sweden is amazing. It is so rich and delicious and good everywhere. Unlike Italian coffee it is also LARGE. Swedes buy the best coffee beans in the world and it is apparent in the taste. When one is drinking so much coffee one needs an array of pastries to go with it. One favorite for Fika is thin waffles with lots of cream and strawberry jam. These are served hot off the grill. Another acceptable option is cinnamon rolls. Oh my are these good. Beyond this there seems to be no end of pastry or cake possibilities. There is just not enough time in the day for that many Fikas.
