Yesterday after our nap we went to see Pima. She asked us what we would like to drink and we both said, “Water!” (It is tempo fa caldo qui.) She said that water was not an acceptable answer. We COULD NOT have just water. So we said ok, caffe. Then she gave us a drink of liquer made of cherries and grapes with lemon water added. That was good. Then we had some lemon cake that was sliced and toasted in the oven after it was cooked. That was yummy. We shared a piece, because we had forgotten to never go anywhere if you are not hungry and it is so hot it is hard to be hungry especially when you cannot get a drink of water no matter how hard you try. Once all that was gone she served us coffee. She asked me if one teaspoon of sugar was enough and then gave me two. Same with Jim. We never did get any water. Pima is so nice and so generous. She speaks good English and she is sympathetic to my poor Italian because she lived in Australia and knows what it is like to not speak the language.

Jim had gotten chicken breasts for dinner and the butcher sliced them incredibly thin. People usually make thin chicken breaded and fried, but Jim grilled ours along with zucchini and red pepper. It was, no surprise here, delicious. I started a water-colour portrait. I was completely remiss this winter on getting things done. It is from a very small photo and is too difficult. Probably a fail.
On the way to market
Friday is our first market day in CVS. It was already very hot this morning and no breeze.
We got all the stuff in this picture for about 17E which at this time is under $20.
Off to Vittorito with Bjorne to buy wine.

love it, keep them coming.........love your comment "trying to look italian by not smiling" LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your photos and the commentary. I'm surprised you buy boxed wine in Italy. I would have expected you to bring your own jug and fill from the tank, or did Bjorne take it all?
