This is why I will not be painting sunflowers. Everyone is just the same and they all face the same way. I think if I did them it would look like a cartoon.
Ancient Roman Custom
By almost every door there is a waterbottle filled with water. I thought that maybe it was an ancient pagan thing having to do with water blessing the house. But I have found out that it is because cats don't like the sound it makes if the pee on it so they are anti-cat pee devices. Not nearly so romantic.

I think these water bottles may serve as a solar warming system for the nights. People here will grow anything in any kind of container. I have not seen beautiful terra cotta pots here. Containers come from construction materials or are made of concrete to keep cars from smashing into your house.
