Italians come to dinner
Our neighbors, Salvatore and Enrica came over at 8. They brought a bottle of wine, rosette, and a cake just out of the oven. It looked beautiful and was presented as if it came from a fancy bakery. The cake was made with apple and chocolate. Paradisimo!! I will try to get the recipe. Communication went well. They think Vermont is in Canada. However, we have been invited to their house on the sea in Pescara either this summer or next. They are renovating their entire house and may not get to go this August. They also invited us to their house tomorrow night at the more seemly time of 8:30. What will we take??? My Italian dictionary does not explain Italian manners and I could not figure out how to ask the question. I understand now the trouble kids have with words like where, who, what, and why. What are those words anyway. Nouns are easier or would be if I could remember anything. They dressed up to come over. We dressed. Who knew? Thank goodness we showered. Everyone we meet mentions where they were during the earthquake of 2009. It was life changing. Do you remember it? It was the worst in 100 years and lasted 25 seconds, but it felt much longer. The epicenter was Aguila, the regional capital.

Winning them over, one neighbor at a time. By the time you leave, I bet you'll be the most popular kids on the block!
ReplyDeleteWell, since there aren't many kids on the block, I think we will.
